Take a "New Poor Vacation", we did. Details on: www.newpoorzone.com. But the gist of it is you house sit one of your friend's cozy homes, while they go on a real vacation. Kids get to pack up -- play their Wii (since we can't afford one), swim in their pool (since we lost ours when we had to sell our house) and watch netflix (a luxury of bygone days)! Affordable, fun and even helpful to our friends, as we care for their animals, water their plants and tend their garden. Works. Really.
