In a preemptive retaliatory strike against the United States, Canada canceled their visitor rebate program, ahead of the introduction of HST in BC and Ontario. Actually, it was so preemptive, they canceled it in 2007 just to stick it to Americans.
Visitors from USA are no longer able to get the tax back on purchases in Canada. Rumors are that this will continue until Washington state reverses it's court injunction against sales tax exemptions for BC visitors. |
